Five high-altitude scenic lookouts sit along the canyon rim. You can access them by road to see the gorge from up to 1,000 meters above the river.

Driving the Calzada al Sumidero from Tuxtla Gutiérrez takes one to two hours and leads to the five official viewpoints. Accessing the road requires a $61 MXN conservation bracelet.

The route stops at La Ceiba, La Coyota, El Tepehuaje, El Roblar, and Los Chiapa. You must stay on designated trails at all times. Do not climb or sit on the retaining walls.
